PROJECTS

TRD Club

As part of our extensive work, The Red Door Club runs every Friday from 2:15pm - 3.30pm along with other clubs. We have 14 students from 8th grade and sometimes we have a 9th grader or other students wanting to sit in with us.

The club does not have a pre-determined plan and the kids mostly decide on what they wish to focus on. The club acts as a safe, open, non-judgemental and therapeutic space where adults can also share their concerns. Often we invite others to talk to our kids.

Peaceful Warriors

Peaceful Warriors are students who are initiated as changemakers who have shown that despite difficult circumstances presenting themselves, these individuals choose to be better people instead of engaging in violence. Their choices make them who they are.

Girls Support Group

The GSG was initiated by girls from the 8th grade and is facilitated by both class teachers who mostly act as observers. It's a non-intrusive space also open to girls from other grades coming into share their experiences and offer each other support and solutions.

The group runs every Thursday during lunch break 1pm - 1.30pm.

Focus involves empowerment, understanding women's rights versus entitled empowerment.

Mentorship

Students are given opportunities to choose their mentors who are either from KCT or introduced through TRD. Some are selected to accompany TRD members as assistants, speakers and/or facilitators for our travelling Red Door programs.

Boys Support Group

The BSG was initiated by few 8th grader boys recently after having realized in a club meeting the need for their own separate group. They've drawn inspiration from knowing the existence of the GSG.

This runs every Tuesdays during lunch 1pm - 1.30pm and is supervised by a TRD volunteer.

Individual Projects

All students initiate their own projects, take up a social issue of their interest of which affects their community directly. Each student is guided in the process, allowing them to make mistakes, build their own solutions and implement their learnings. This is where we see concepts being practiced in daily life.
